Doing HaShem's will is the most important calling that HaShem gives His people. In fact, when asked how to pray Yeshua states that we should pray for the accomplishment of HaShem's will on earth. Mathew 6:10 states "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." However, when we do not strive to accomplish the will of HaShem, we fall short of our calling. Continually operating outside the will of HaShem, eventually separates us from HaShem, in a way similar to adultery separating a married couple. As a result, our relationship with HaShem suffers. Yirmeyahu 3:8 states "I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also." Yisrael's continual operation outside HaShem's will eventually divided the kingdom and caused the Diaspora. Therefore, it is crucial for a strong relationship with HaShem that we continually seek to accomplish His will. Before we can accomplish HaShem's will we must learn what part of HaShem's will He wants to accomplish through us. It is relatively simple to learn what part of HaShem's will He wants to accomplish through us. HaShem reveals His will to us through words of knowledge, answers to prayer, His written word, and other types of direct revelation. Putting HaShem's will into action is more difficult. Putting HaShem's will into action, requires us to act on faith. Stepping out in faith can be made easier if we understand that the two most important components of faith are commitment and timing. Devarim is a good example of how commitment and timing are both required to step out in faith and accomplish HaShem's will.

Commitment to HaShem's will, helps us overcome the difficulties we face. When the Children of Yisrael were no longer committed to doing HaShem's will they were overcome with fear. For example, when Yisrael sent spies into the Promised Land and the spies reported that there, were giants, the entire nation became afraid. The Children of Yisrael's fear was a result of their loss of commitment. Therefore, the Children of Yisrael blamed HaShem for their problems. Devarim 1:27-32 states "ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. Whither shall we go brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; And in the wilderness, where thou has seen how that the LORD thy God bear thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God" Yisrael's loss of commitment also weakened Yisrael's relationship with HaShem. As a result, they did not trust HaShem to perform miracles like He preformed when He delivered them from Egypt. Therefore, they were not worthy to enter the Promised Land.

After the Children of Yisrael failed to take possession of the Promised Land, they were told by HaShem that their generation would wander in the wilderness for 40 years. When the Children of Yisrael were told that they would wander for 40 years, they decided to force HaShem's will into their timing. However, forcing HaShem's will into their timing caused them to lose His protection. Devarim 1:41-45 states "you answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill. And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill. And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah. And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you." HaShem still wanted Avraham's descendants to possess the Promised Land. However, when the Children of Yisrael failed to take possession when the time was right, the timing changed. Therefore, when the Children of Yisrael got impatient and acted, they were no longer operating in the Lord's will. Not moving in the Lords time, made it impossible, for the Children of Yisrael to take possession of the land. Not moving in the Lord's time puts us outside of His will. As a result, moving in our own time leads to defeat. Waiting for the Lord's timing brings victory. Moving in the Lord's time gives us the protection we need to overcome the trials and struggles we encounter.

Commitment and timing are two of the most important components required when we step out on faith. Commitment is required so that we can overcome the flesh. The Children of Yisrael's loss of commitment opened the nation up to fear. Timing is required so that when we do step out on faith we are under the protection of HaShem. When the Children of Yisrael acted in their own time, they stepped outside of HaShem's will. Therefore, they were defeated. As a result, the generation who came out of Egypt did not inherit the land. In Devarim Moshe reiterates the trials of the generation who was delivered from Egypt, so that new generations will learn from the mistakes of our fathers. Therefore, when it is time for us to take possession of the Promised Land, new generations will be prepared to wait for HaShem's timing and remain committed to His will. When this occurs HaShem's will is manifest on earth and victory takes place.
